Att Pynta is thrilled to be exclusively stocking these gorgeous cushions handmade by Nora. We had the pleasure of popping down to Nora’s workshop and seeing how it all happens.
With a career in fashion, Nora has always had a flair for design; evident by both the clothes she wears and the way she styles her home. While going through some fabric swatches the Finnish designer tells us how her fashion and interior choices fuse together. ‘I often steer towards simplistic and well-tailored shapes that are fit for a purpose. I try and avoid clutter at all costs.’ This can certainly be seen in her cushion designs, which are fresh and simple while creating a statement through the vivid use of colour.
‘My 'less is more’ aesthetic has never applied to cushions’ Nora tells us. She likes to layer up her cushions, mixing different prints and colours while keeping the rest of her home simple and minimalist. Her cushion designs are the perfect way for her to add some gorgeous splashes of colour in her space.
Her Scandinavian upbringing has clearly influenced how her home looks. ‘I love the Scandinavian minimalist aesthetic, but not in a purist sense. I see my home like a big white blank canvas where I can then display my love of colour, texture and geometric patterns with accessories like vases, cushions and throws.’ Nora’s cushions can work in any space, adding a sense of character and, of course, comfort.
To start the design process she began experimenting with textures and colours. While on a trip to India she came across a market selling beautiful handcrafted cloths that she knew she would never be able to get anywhere else. ‘I saw the fabric and knew I wanted to use it in my home. I ended up making a few cushions and fell in love with them.’ And so have we. We adore the thick texture of the fabric that give the cushions a high quality finish and feel. The geometric jacquard pattern will add a point of interest to any space while still remaining contemporary and chic.
Once Nora was happy with the shape and colours of the cushions, she sourced the best quality lambswool to stuff them with. ‘I wanted the cushions to be gorgeous to the core, so they had to be stuffed with eco friendly lambswool for a firm but soft feel.'
To add some extra detail to the cushion Nora tufts the cushions with a coloured handmade button. ‘I wanted to create something that people will love for years to come, so it was imperative that I used the best quality materials. My home is continuously evolving, influenced by life in a big city and travel, yet these handmade treasures are something that never go out of style.’
We couldn’t agree more; the cushions have a timeless quality that will add a stunning touch of Scandinavian design to any room. We are so pleased to offer these exclusively to our customers.
